  • 1.  8x8 Work Warm Transfer - Merge then drop out?

    Posted 02-13-2023 18:37

    Hi all,

Are there any other admins or end users unsatisfied with the warm transfer procedure when using the 8x8 Work app?

When trying to do a warm (or attended, consultative) transfer, there is no option to complete the transfer and the only way to achieve this is to merge the calls into an ad-hoc conference call and the leave the conference call selecting "Let others continue". See below guide from 8x8

How to Warm Transfer a call in 8x8 Work Desktop - 8x8 Support

This procedure seems clunky and more steps than should be necessary, there should be a button to "Complete the transfer". Desk phones and other VoIP platforms offer a way to do this as a core feature, so why can't we have it in 8x8 Work? We have a customer currently evaluating the system and this is a sticking point for them.

Is there anyone else out there disappointed by this? This has been an issue for a number of years, how can we get 8x8 to do something about it?

    Hi Joe,

    Greetings from Ireland.

I agree these instruction are clunky and possibly out of date.

It is possible to do a warm transfer without starting a conference call. The button you are looking for is in top left of the screen.

Here is a video I did for our users.

    Hi Pat,

Thank you so much for this, I would say I don't know how I missed that option but I just wouldn't expect to have to look for it!

Still a bit clunky and users could easily get confused given there is an identical icon with the other call controls, but lets see how they get on with it. I still think there should be a button to complete the transfer.

Thanks again for sharing this and the video is very helpful.
