knowledgebase article there, but the answer is yes, we do encrypt our chat messages, with a caveat.
You'll need to ensure that you use the Direct Link as https for the Support Center URL on your site.
All chat is encrypted in transmission using SSL3 / TLS 1.0, depending on the capabilities of the browsers connecting.
