Let’s connect with Samantha Henderson of R&S Drug Stores.  Please leave your comments and questions for Samantha below.  If you are interested in being featured in a member spotlight please email customerreference@8x8.com.

Tell us your role at R&S Drug Stores.
I oversee the durable medical equipment (DME) billing, OSHA training, credentialing, audits and the communications system for R&S Drug Stores.  We operate three pharmacies in the Duncan, Oklahoma area - two retail stores and one closed door pharmacy serving long term care facilities - with six on staff pharmacists.

How did you get into this role?
My background is in practice management for physician offices and clinics.  I was working remotely for a doctor who took a new position with a hospital, so I needed to find a job.  I called up my sister-in-law who owns R&S and offered to help her with credentialing, auditing, systems, etc.

How did you come to learn about 8x8?

I used 8x8 at my previous job, and always found it to be a really, really good communications system.   I've worked with a lot of different systems, and I thought this was the best and had a good price point.

R&S were using an AT&T on premises system.  What prompted you to move to the cloud?
When I began working with R&S, its AT&T contract was up for renewal, and they were considering making a change.  In July 2022, we went live on 8x8.  We forwarded numbers so it was real quick. Porting the numbers took a little while longer.  It's worked out well; the team is happy with the platform.  The price is right, and it's easy to administer.

What do you do for fun?
I watch movies, read books, travel and play with my kids.  I've been streaming The Watcher on Netflix.  It is very intense!

You're based in Texas, yet your company offices in Oklahoma.  How do you stay connected and feel part of the team?
Once a year, I go to our Oklahoma offices and train employees on OSHA compliance, fraud, waste and abuse. This past year I used a game show theme for the training which they really loved.  Since I am only around my colleagues in person annually, I look for other ways to connect with people in person.  I volunteer to teach liberal arts enrichment at my daughter's middle school.
