  • 1.  Unwanted Google Business Profile Spam Calls

    Posted 04-10-2024 09:49

Since switching to 8x8, we receive several spam calls daily telling us businesses are having a hard time locating us on Google and that we need to update and verify our business profile. If you stay on the line and speak to a person, they hang up on you as soon as you tell them to stop calling. Then they keep calling from a different phone number. I've tried blocking the calls in 8x8 but since they keep calling from different phone numbers, that doesn't solve the problem. I've also made sure we are on the 'do not call' registry. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions?

    Hello Mellisa

We understand that receiving spam calls can be both frustrating and concerning.
Blocking the calling numbers and adding your number to the 'do not call' registry are great steps to take to reduce these types of calls.

8x8 can assist with blocking these numbers using the method you have completed. In the scenario where the callers are changing the number, please see some additional steps that can be taken:

Federal Trade Commission (FTC): The FTC collects complaints about unwanted calls and takes action against offenders. You can report spam calls via their website.

    Website: FTC Complaint Assistant (https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/)
Federal Communications Commission (FCC): The FCC also handles complaints about illegal and spoofed robocalls. You can file a complaint online.

    Steps to Take:
Record Call Details: Note the caller's number, the time and date of the call, and any details about the nature of the call.
Report the Call: Use the provided links to report the spam call to the appropriate agency in your country.

By following these steps, you help regulatory bodies take action against spammers and reduce the incidence of spam calls for everyone.
