Has anyone else been waiting over a month for campaign approval?! This is severely affecting our business not having texting and 8x8 has been absolutely HORRIBLE about it and seems to give no cares that it is affecting their customers. I seriously call 2-3 times a week and they give me the run around about it being escalated, etc. They even told me that it was another company that did the approvals and when I reached out to that company, they said it was indeed 8x8.

I am now cancelling my services with 8x8 and am researching other phone companies. Have yall tried any others?

Dear Valued Customer, please allow us to apologize for the recent events that have prompted you to write this feedback. We appreciate that SMS is important for your company and we`d like to give you some context around the registration process.

The information you enter into the "Your Brand" and "Your Campaign" forms in the Admin Console is validated by external third-party organizations, so unfortunately, this is not something that 8x8 would be able to accelerate.

Generically, it can take up to 3 weeks for the first events that a campaign is being verified to show on the campaign registry portal (there first events consist in one time billing event, initial assessment). This being said, we cannot indicate any maximum completion time as each campaign is unique.
    We apologize for the inconvenience.

Yes, I had a working campaign since August 2022, but for some reason when they had the "issue" last month where most of their clients lost their SMS, someone cause my campaign to be resumbitted then rejected.

They are now telling me that they will NOT resubmit my campaign unless we put this that THEY DECIDED on our website and scare away our customers:

"By providing my phone number to "Company Name", I agree and acknowledge that "Company Name" may send text messages to my wireless phone number for any purpose. Message and data rates may apply.

and we MUST also change our Privacy Policy to what they dictate because it is a governement requirement that we use their language on our privacy policy and disclaimers.

This has also had a huge impact on our business and we feel the same way you do.  Worst part is they knew this date was coming and totally droped the ball when CSPs started enforcing the campaigns.

    Hello Jordan,

    Thank you for your post.

support is trying to ensure SMS Campaigns get approved from the first go and as such recommends standardized verbiage for the Privacy Policy in order to avoid rejection.

This being said, I do appreciate loss of SMS is disruptive for your business and do apologize for the inconvenience

Forget "approval", I have not had any explanation as to why it is necessary to set up a "campaign" in order to use SMS with our tenants. This change in IM/SMS has made it impossible to communicate with our tenants/customers and is completely unnecessary. We were operating perfectly fine prior to this change in process. I still have not had it explained to me how to set this up or whether once set up our tenants/customers will be able to use it or understand how to use it (when I don't even understand why or how this works!) Can we just go back to having our 8x8 numbers be IM accessible please?!

    Hello John,

All business-related SMS/MMS messages sent by any 3rd party application, including 8x8 Work, are now classified as Application to Person (A2P) traffic. This is due to a series of regulations and best practices put in place to ensure commercial messaging over SMS is secure for customers. Mobile phone service providers (examples: AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc) have taken strict action to control the type and quality of A2P messages that their subscribers receive.

Please check this out for more details.

    John,

I just answered this in my reply to Jordan.  The answer is that the wireless carriers (led by T-Mobile) changed all the rules for SMS messaging in the US.  SMS is covered by self-regulation, not the FCC, so the wireless carriers can get together and change the rules whenever they wish -- and they wished.  This is not our fault, we are dealing with the issues as well as we can.  But the carriers were not ready for change.  Please work with support to get your account properly registered, it may take a bit of time because the carriers are weeks behind (backlog).

    Jordan,

The issue was not us but the wireless carriers; they began blocking all traffic that was not fully registered (by them), and of course, in true wireless carrier fashion, there was a broken business process; they were unable to keep up with registrations, and they dropped the ball often. We have close to 98% of our customer fully registered for A2P traffic, but the process is a bit of pain (again NOT US).  Please work with support to get your account fully onboarded to the wireless carriers new processes.

8x8 has been absolutely horrible regarding this change. We received the SMS notification messages from 8x8 last month and I called two times to the help desk and asked if our company needed to register a campaign. I was told TWICE that we did not have to register a campaign because we are an express client. Then just like with everyone else, they turned off our ability to text message and were all of sudden told we had to register our campaign AND were told we had to upgrade our account and pay more to access SMS. I was told the registration process would take 7-10 days. I have called and messaged 8x8 and no one responds to my messages (in fairness, on the phone, I waited over an hour more than 3 times and no one picked up the phone). So at this point, I have upgraded my account, and am paying a HIGHER monthly fee yet we do NOT have SMS service which has been detrimental to our business. But it looks like the CEO seems to not take any responsibility and blames the carriers, but not his horrible customer service and not take any responsibility for putting his customers in this situation. I have never had such an issue contacting a vendor to get help - which is super ironic since 8x8 is a communications company? Strange.
