  • 1.  Set two phones to point to the same Voicemail box

I have a user that has a phone upstairs (Ext 1001) and downstairs (Ext 1002).  I set the phones so they each have the other's line appear.  This works well, except for having two voice mail boxes.

Is there a way to configure the Forwarding Rules so an unaswered call on 1002 goes to the 1001 voicemail if no one answers 1002?  On other phone systems I have seen the option to dial a special code + extension number and that would send the message directly to VM.

    Hi Jordan

My suggestion would have been to setup an internal Auto Attendant to go straight to voicemail for 1001.
Then you could update the Call forwarding rules for Ext 1002 to have it go to the internal extension for this AA instead of its own VM.

However, your reference of a special code prompted me to check and *15 appears to be what you need to use, I've not tested it.
    As per https://support.8x8.com/equipment-devices/phones/general-phone-settings/feature-access-codes-or-dialpad-key-shortcuts-for-work
Transfer to voicemail (Start new call (hold old call); dial the extension of the voicemail box, and press # to transfer to the extension's voicemail)

    Regards

Another option would be to create a ring group with both phones so that a message left in the ring group would show up on both phones. This would probably mean that 1001 would become the ring group number and you would need a new extension for the physical phone 1001.
