I'm new to 8x8 (former RingCentral user). I connected my contact list to 8x8, but when I receive a message from someone in my contact list, their name does not appear - just the phone number. I can start a thread from my contact list, and the name appears, but not if the thread originates from the other person. This is the same issue on both desktop and Android apps. Any ideas of what to do?

Glad to have you as a new user. That's an interesting issue you're running into. Curious to see what happens if you try to add an individual user manually to the Work App and then have them text you?

Contacts that are added manually will populate across the Desktop and Mobile apps. But it doesn't appear that contact sync from Google is working for me after trying it (this used to work at some point in the past).

From what I've observed, you can grant access to your contacts stored on your phone for the Mobile App to interact with but that list won't sync to the Desktop/Web app.

Are you trying to use Google or Outlook to sync your contacts?

Hi Jahmal,

I used Google to sync contacts, and they are showing up on both the phone and desktop apps.

If I send a text to someone from my contacts list and then they text me, their name shows up, but if I have not sent an initial text from 8x8, only their number shows and not their name.

As a work around, I ended up sending messages to all of the people most likely to text me, so that when they do, there will already be a thread started.
