Teams Outgoing Call default device selection

Hi,
We have 8x8 Teams integration, and I have Teams installed on my mobile phone.
When I initiate a call from 8x8 in Teams on my laptop, it simultaneously rings/calls my laptop and my mobile. It is expecting me to answer on one of these devices, and then it connects me to the outgoing call I initiated.
However I find this very annoying.
If I start a call on my laptop, I want to use my laptop for the call. Conversely, if I start a call on my mobile I would expect it to use my mobile for the call. I don't expect to choose which device after I have initiated the call.
How can this annoying feature be turned off / disabled.
Thanks
Nigel

Hi Nigel.
It sounds like you have 8x8 Teams Phone which is different to 8x8 Voice for Teams.
Teams Phone operates like a "Click to dial" - where the call generates from the phone app and "calls teams".
Did your organization consciously choose Teams phone over Voice for teams?

I do not know which version we have, but the Teams app says

8x8 Phone App
Published by 8x8 Voice for Teams
Version 1.2.0-220923091730

That would be the former, "8x8 Phone App" where this behavior is by design.
I doubt it can be changed as Teams itself doesn't differentiate between endpoints.

Thanks Jonathan, 'behaviour by design' explains it all :-)
