 8x8 mobile app does not ring until call missed on Android

We have a user with a Nokia 3.4, running Android 11 and the latest 8x8 app 10.19.1.
When the phone is locked the app will not ring. A notification will pop-up immediately when the caller has ended the call, but not when the call starts.
It works fine if phone is unlocked.
Initially it sounds like battery optimisation, the app is going to sleep. I have ensured this is turned off in the settings, but the issue still occurs. I have looked online for all battery saving features I can disable and none of them have helped.

Anyone else experienced similar? None of our iOS users have this issue. Frustrating as a phone that does not ring is useless!

Edit: just found out that the Teams app sends notifications immediately, its just 8x8 app!

Thanks for the detailed information.

There’s a support article titled Unable to receive notifications on Work for Mobile on Android which may help.

Before I switched to iOS, I was using a Samsung phone running an older version of Android and had no issues with notifications on the app.

If this knowledge base article doesn’t resolve your issue, then maybe support provide a solution. 

Let us know how it goes. Your findings could also help someone else out with the same trouble.
