Is there a way for my computer to alert me when a new text has come in other than the red bubble on the app icon?   I sit at my desk all day and texts are a part of my business, so being alerted audibly would be phenomenal.  Or at least a visual pop up box or something....Anyone know of anything I can adjust on my end to make that happen?

It was automatic for me. I get a pop up preview of the message and a notification of the app/program. Check if it is blocked with your webpage pop up blocker or any anti virus or firewall software.

I'm not sure how to do that.  Any suggestions?

Try signing out of your account.  Clear you browser cache for all time.  Then, log into the 8x8 work site with your account credentials.  Next, make sure you allow all notifications from the site so you will be alerted.  Also, if using Microsoft Edge you may have problems with their secure DNS setting(s).  Disable it for the 8x8 site and things will work much better.
