  • 1.  How to get Ring Groups to display in Teams

    We have a number of ring groups in 8x8 but a lot of our colleagues only use Teams for calls.

    We initially imported contacts into Teams via spreadsheet upload but this isn't workable long term as every time we add a new ring group or a new colleague starts we have to import the contacts.

     When we add a ring group, the number will appear in the Teams directory as "external ring group" but not with the name it has been given in 8x8.

    How do we get the ring group name to appear alongside the number in Teams without giving the ring group an MS licence and setting up as an individual user?

    Has anyone has any success with this?

    Hi Julie,

     

    We have rings groups ringing into Teams users and as long as we mark the field for "Ring Group Caller ID" in the ring group admin to say "Ring Group Name and Caller's Number" it shows the ring group name along with the caller number in the Teams incoming call popup as well as in the call log.

    Thanks Eric,

    The problem we have is the number showing in the contact directory in Teams - so if an internal colleague needs to call a ring group within the organisation, they just want to search in the directory for the ring group name rather than having to know the number.

    Have you had any success with this?

    I think if 8x8 could add a partial or full company directory section in the 8x8 Voice for Teams Companion app would be helpful here?
    Especially for things like ring groups.

    I'd be interested in this as well. We have a mix of users who prefer to use the work app as they can see the attendants, ring groups and queues but we all have a Teams licence for this and would rather use that as we all use it for UC.
