In this article, it describes requirements to provision phones in 8x8 Express, including the need for a device with a factory-installed device certificate (I guess to support SRTP/authentication/security/etc.)
Similarly, this article and this article explain how to provision and activate an Obihai OBi300 ATA with 8x8 -- which I assume means the OBi300 supports the certificate/security features as mentioned in the provision phones in 8x8 Express article.
However, the activation article talks about things like Account Manager or 8x8 Admin Console -- which don't seem to be a thing in Express.
Instead, as explained in this article, phone provisioning in Express is done in 8x8 Manager Express, (under "Users and Phones" and "More options" | "Edit" | "Desk Phone").
However, in the available phone setup, under "Select deskphone", there is only a fixed set of phone options, not including any ATAs, and not including the OBi300 -- even when selecting the option to "Add new model".
(this dropdown list goes on to include various additional Poly and Yealink devices)
Is this an intentional limitation and 8x8 Express only works with the fixed list of phones that show up in this dropdown?
Or is it possible (or will be possible) to use an OBi300 ATA as the deskphone for an 8x8 Express user? E.g., will the list be expanded eventually? Or, would it work to just choose a different (or any) phone model in the Manager Express interface, but then use the provided authentication code with the OBi300 (after setting up the OBi300 like in 8x8 )?
Similarly, when I click the "Buy deskphone" option in Manager Express, it takes me to https://8x8.force.com/s/shoppingcart , where only a few models are offered:
... not including the OBi300 -- although I do see elsewhere on the 8x8 web site (at https://www.8x8.com/products/devices) that 8x8 even sells the OBi300 (although, it's unclear how one actually buys the product from the page, as there is just a "Request a quote" link rather than, say, an "Add to cart" option).
So, any tips on getting an OBi300 working with 8x8 Express?
